WATERSEAL was recently engaged to carry out significant remedial waterproofing works at a key telecommunications facility within the Perth metropolitan area—an asset vital to national infrastructure and communications.
The suspended concrete roof had suffered progressive degradation due to the failure of an aged coating system, allowing moisture ingress to impact structural integrity. Adding to the challenge, the slab was under unique dynamic stresses: the torque generated by the facility’s rotating radar array had caused stress cracking, while the perimeter tracking system—subject to repeated heavy loads—required detailed regrouting and precision repair.
Working in peak summer conditions, with limited access and tight turnaround requirements, WATERSEAL delivered a tailored solution using a high-performance polyurea membrane system. Its rapid curing time and exceptional durability made it ideal for the demanding operational environment.
Key challenges:
- Repair of stress fractures in the suspended slab.
- Regrouting of perimeter tracks exposed to repetitive load.
- Installation of polyurea membrane in extreme summer conditions.
- Coordination with site stakeholders to meet strict access and security protocols.
Despite the constraints, works were completed on time and to specification, with zero disruption to the facility’s operations. The client expressed full satisfaction with both the process and the outcome.
This project is a testament to WATERSEAL’s ability to work under pressure, think technically, and execute flawlessly in mission-critical environments.
